The Europa Incident ENG Luca Sandonà
The Europa Incident is a science fiction game with a modified deck-building mechanics to avoid excessive randomness in card hand generation. The discovery of the game map, only partially random, simulates the mineral prospecting activities of resource-rich asteroids in the main belt of our solar system between Mars and Jupiter. The hand of cards allows players to choose and plan their tactics relying on available resources and technologies. The victory point determination system is extremely simple and able to establish the winner in a few turns, forcing players to speed up to obtain any available tactical advantage. Therefore, do not rely too much on your luck.
Success, as always, is halfway between planning and audacity!
The Europa Incident is fast-paced Science Fiction boardgame about the control of the most strategically and economically useful sites in the Main Asteroid Belt of our Solar System by what has emerged from the now mostly-abandoned Earth. Factions are leftovers and descendants from transnational agencies, mega-corporations, armed organizations and a mix of all of them.
Gradual collapse of Earth ecosystem as well as rapid development of cost-effective space travel, growing hunger for resources and profit, not mentioning political scheming, pushed everyone to a new gold-rush. Where the new “gold” are the resources now available on asteroids and moonlets scattered in our system.
Soon politics, growing economic interests and astute diplomacy will demand control of the situation and aim for new balances. A new balance of power which will be established, in the first place, by the “status quo” at the end of the conflict.
The game allows from 2 to 4 player to challenge themselves for the control of some small outposts somewhere into the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.
In the box are featured four factions: Anglo-Atlantic Alliance, Central Scientific Committee, NeoViridians and ZhangSpace.
